Data-Driven Service Design for Demand-Responsive Transport
Join us hear how New Zealand fleet operators in the Public and Community Transport sectors are applying a data-driven approach to enhance their offering and apply demand-responsive transport technology to service their passengers.
Michael Weyna (Senior Planner, On-Demand @Auckland Transport)
Michael Weyna has worked in urban innovation and transportation for 15 years. At Auckland Transport, he leads the design and integration of on-demand solutions into Public Transport network. Responding to the changing mobility needs, Michael focuses on improving access and connectivity, whilst encouraging a mode shift away from private cars.
Rachel Hopkins (Head of Living Well Communities @Arvida Group)
Arvida is a retirement and aged care company listed on the NZX. Rachel is responsible for the national rollout of Arvida Good Friends - services to support older New Zealanders live well in their own homes - including Good Friends Go, powered by Liftango. Rachel has always been involved in start-ups, angel investing and connecting people to create new solutions to old problems. Her eclectic career has included owning her own business in Sydney, working for the world’s largest law firm in London and three years with The Icehouse business incubator in Auckland. She is an independent director of PledgeMe, a New Zealand-owned crowdfunding platform.
Troy O’Dea (Operations Manager @Howick and Eastern (part of Transdev Australasia))

Trystan Eeles (COO & Co-Founder @Liftango)

Trystan is the proud holder of a master’s degree in engineering (which is unused to this day), he has over a decade of experience in management consulting and is a lifelong transport nerd. He is proud of his label as the non-technical co-founder but is lucky enough to hide this fact by knowing a few buzzwords and having an incredibly strong technical team around him.
Helen Fitt (Postdoctoral Fellow, Faculty of Environment, Society and Design @Lincoln University)
(Webinar host) Helen is currently a postdoctoral fellow working at Lincoln University and a Director of ITSNZ.
Her key projects include exploring the current and potential use of electric vehicles in regional tourism, and trials of shared transport solutions.
Previous work at the University of Canterbury included a project exploring the implications of automated vehicles for older people and ageing populations, and a project exploring the emerging use of electric scooters.
In conference presentations, Helen always aims to combine research rigour with humour and entertainment.
