With cross-polination between driverless and electric vehicles building momentum for change the recent presentations and panel on Electric Vehicles held at Auckland University proved to be very popular. The event was a good opportunity to hear from experts and leaders of the EV industry and to learn about the benefit electric cars, trucks and other modes will bring.
At an event chaired by ITS NZ's Blair Monk ITS Specialist at Aurecon), Liz Yeaman, GM Transport at EECA discussed how New Zealand is the ideal place for Electric Vehicles, and suggested there are opportunities for New Zealand technology innovators to create complimentary technology.
Steve West, CEO of Charge Net, and a representative of such technology discussed the role out of their charging network and the open model they are using, being aware that the complimentary infrastructure is required to inspire uptake of the vehicles.
Steve and Liz were joined by Mark Yates (Ecotricity) for an informative and active panel Q&A.
