Elham Bahmanteymouri
Senior LecturerThe University of AucklandElham Bahmanteymouri is a senior lecturer in urban planning at the University of Auckland. She teaches Urban Land Economics, Urban Economic Development, and Urban Economics at the School of Architecture and Planning. Elham holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics, a master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning and Urban Design, and a PhD in planning. Prior to joining the academic world, she worked in urban and regional planning practice for around 13 years as a senior planner across different public and private sectors, including the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development of Iran. She has particular expertise in the provision of urban growth management policies and the economic assessment of housing and urban development policies, investigating the causes and consequences of spatial inequality, housing unaffordability, and urban poverty, as well as supervising the preparation, implementation, and evaluation of urban plans. In addition, the focus of her research is on Urban Critical Theories, Economics of Incomplete Markets, Urban Economics, Cities and Digital platforms, Smart and Digital Economy, Sharing and Platform Economy, and Application of Artificial Intelligence in Urban Planning all through a post-positivistic approach.
