RUSSELL FITTS. Executive Chairman.
Russell is executive chairman of Christchurch based Air Future Ltd (AFL). AFL is a New Zealand public unlisted company. The Company has over 3,400 mainly New Zealand and Australian based shareholders.
Air Future Ltd holds exclusive licence access rights to manufacture within New Zealand, Australia and the Pacific Islands to a range of clean transport vehicles and renewable energy and energy storage products developed by Luxembourg company MDI.
MDI SA is a global leader in compressed air technology and its applications to transport, energy storage and electricity generation. MDI’s motto is “Sustainability for All” – that is to make an effective change towards sustainability, products must be affordable to the masses and be sustainable both in production and operation.
Russell has a long standing and close personal and business relationship with MDI. Russell is a Justice of the Peace and has been Chairman of AFL since 1999. He has extensive director, business and corporate governance experience. Russell previously farmed in Mid Canterbury and fulfilled former executive roles in the Mid Canterbury Federated Farmers. He was an Associate member of the NZ Institute of Valuers and Senior Member of the NZ Property Institute. He provided services to the Earthquake Commission from 2011 to 2015 serving in the complex claims division. Russell and the AFL executive team are leading the introduction of the MDI technology to New Zealand, Australia and the Pacific islands.
