Transport’s Role in Economic and Social Prosperity

Policy practitioners and researchers will come together to discuss research related to transport impacts on economic and social prosperity. The conference will be in-person and is hosted by the Ministry of Transport
The theme for Transport Knowledge Conference 2024 is: Transport’s role in economic and social prosperity
Transport is a critical economic enabler, ensuring that people and goods can move efficiently and safely, and connecting people to both economic and social opportunities. We need our transport systems to be efficient, in order to facilitate trade, reduce costs, connect markets and communities, and provide access to jobs and essential services.
This year’s conference will feature keynote speeches from renowned experts, parallel presentation sessions, and networking opportunities. Attendees will gain valuable insights into how effective transport policies can spur economic development, reduce inequalities, and improve quality of life.
Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit abstracts under the following topics:
- Safety and health
- Investment
- Funding and financing
- User choice and behaviour
- Modelling, economics and evaluation
The purpose of the conference is to bring together the transport research, data and evaluation community with government officials, decision makers and policy teams from across the wider transport sector.
Conference objectives:
- Enhance the use of evidence (data, information, research and evaluation) to inform decision-making
- Provide a forum for people working across the transport sector to share, build, and maintain their transport knowledge
- Create a thriving transport research, data and evaluation community that delivers an evidence-based transport system that improves wellbeing and liveability.
The Transport Knowledge Conference aims to connect transport-sector professionals and promote the sharing of transport data, evidence, knowledge, research, information, capabilities, and ideas.
