Mike Rudge

CHAIR

Mike Rudge has 40 years’ experience in Management and Infrastructure Management and Development in New Zealand, The Pacific and Asia. In that time, he has served on, and chaired two industry organisations, the REAAA NZ Chapter and ITSNZ.

Mike was an early adopter and innovator in Infrastructure Asset Management and was Stantec’s lead for ITS and Analytics for Stantec Australia and NZ. In terms of ITS Mike is a great believer in the role that new technology can play in NZ meetings its transport objectives whether they be
– emissions reductions from smart EVs or improved transport systems
– road safety and road to zero targets through the application of new technologies or
– improving equity with improved transport options or through mobility as a service

Recently Mike has also helped develop NZTA’s Future Transport Insights.

As Board Member of ITS NZ since 2016 and Chair since 2019, Mike has been responsible for developing and refining ITSNZ’s strategy. Mike has also helped grow the organisation’s connections with its international affiliates and is currently driving the initiative to hold the ITS AP Forum in New Zealand in 2027. He is currently also driving the development of ITS NZ’s Industry and Academia position paper on Applying Transport Technology to Achieve Transport Outcomes

As current Chair of ITS NZ Mike is keen to see our international connectedness improve and will be aiming to bring the ITS Asia Pacific Forum to NZ in the next 2-3 years and is conscious that planning for this needs to start now.
