The Transport Knowledge Hub will host the ninth Transport Knowledge Conference that will be held on Tuesday 28 November 2023 at Victoria University of Wellington.
The Conference will be an-in-person event but attendees will also have the option to join online.
Conference Overview:
The transport sector plays a pivotal role in Aotearoa New Zealand’s first Emissions Reduction Plan as transport will need to almost fully decarbonised by 2050 in order to achieve the national target of reach net zero by 2050. Decarbonising the transport system requires implementing a mix of transformational changes and actions to deliver better transport for New Zealanders, making it more sustainable, inclusive, safe and accessible.
The theme for Transport Knowledge Conference 2023 is: Shifting Gears – Collectively moving our transport system forward.
The transport system is currently faced with significant challenges that have a flow-on impact to social, environmental, cultural and economic systems. A collective and proactive effort is needed for the actors in the system to work more collaboratively and cohesively to effect both the incremental and transformational change needed in the system. It is important to have the right levers through a strong evidence base along with incremental learnings from past behaviours. Leading from the front to ensure we are well equipped to make the right investment decisions will be at the core of TKC 2023.
