ITSNZ Young Transport Professionals Group to support Diversity, Knowledge Sharing and Careers

ITSNZ are very pleased to announce the launch of our Youth and Diversity group, Young Transport Professionals (YTP). Led by recent board appointments of Amy Strang and Armin Guttke our Youth and Diversity Ambassadors, the group will support young and early-stage transport professionals in their career and knowledge development as leaders within New Zealand’s transport eco-system.

The vision behind YTP was developed by Amy and Armin who are setting out to create “a new and exciting sector group predicated by a vision to diversify the industry and strengthen knowledge and collaboration across those starting out in the industry.” YTP is not age-restricted but instead targets those in the first 15 years of their transport, technology, and ITS careers.

Chair of ITSNZ Mike Rudge explains ITSNZ’s supporting role, “to lead the future transport conversation, it’s imperative that we support the up and coming experts and innovators, encouraging and listening to young and diverse voices can only be good for our industry.”

“With their enthusiasm Amy and Armin have exceeded our expectations already and we’re excited to support them as they launch and grow the YTP group and activities.”

YTP has announced their first event “Safety & The Road to Zero” featuring a panel and moderated by Amy and Armin, who’ll share insights and discuss policy, innovations and challenges. Find the event here

Initially YTP aims to hold regular knowledge-sharing events, including networking and development opportunities targeted at those in the early stages of their career, it is open to members and non-members, while students are also welcome to join. YTP will also develop their own social-media activity starting with a Facebook group for online discussion and networking.

Organisations looking to support YTP are encouraged to consider ITSNZ membership to help fund future ideas for growing the group and its objectives.

YTP holds 1st Panel Event

Featuring a panel of industry and academia the first YTP event will explore Safety and the Road to Zero, the first event is set for 11th June.
