Andrew Gray

After completing his diesel mechanic apprenticeship at Tranzit’s Rongotai and Masterton depots, Andrew Gray has become one of the New Zealand family owned bus and coach company’s experienced heavy vehicle mechanics with specialist skills and knowledge on Tranzit’s growing electric bus fleet and charging infrastructure.
Over the last decade, Andrew has led a variety of projects around communications and surveillance equipment fit outs, designed and manufactured interior fittings to suit requirements of Tranzit’s public and private sector customers and built relationships with several NZ based manufacturers and suppliers.
Currently, Andrew divides his time 50: 50 working on Tranzit’s fleet of diesel buses and its growing fleet of e-buses. He is also a part of the team involved in Tranzit’s Repower Project, converting diesel buses to 100% electric, as well as designing and manufacturing a bespoke backpack-style fast charging system to suit the specialist needs of Tranzit’s electric double deck fleet operating in Wellington. Andrew has also carried out engineering work on Tranzit’s Thorndon and Grenada charging sites.
