Richard established SmartSense in 2020 to deliver the ‘hard to get’ data that clients are increasingly seeking. We don’t just want traffic counts, we want multi-modal data – pedestrians movements, traffic encroachment information, near-miss detection and ways of monitoring and controlling intersections without the need to dig up the road or deploy a plethora of single purpose sensors. With over thirty five years real world experience – and the grey hair to prove it – Richard delivers practical, pragmatic solutions that provide not only actionable intelligence but great value to clients. Richard is a keen and vocal advocate for equitable and safe cycling and provides his services and system to numerous local volunteer groups around Aotearoa.
