    Simon is one of New Zealand’s leading experts in network economics. He combines economic and policy expertise, with deep institutional knowledge of the energy and resources sectors, plus leading modelling expertise. Simon heads Concept’s modelling practice and has developed numerous models over the years to inform business and Government clients. Most recently, he has developed the whole-of-economy model used by the Climate Change Commission for setting its carbon budgets.
    Prior to joining Concept, Simon was a senior executive for Contact Energy, where he held a range of roles in corporate strategy, retail strategy and pricing, regulatory affairs, and lastly as Chief Information Officer.
    Simon’s 30+ year career has had a consistent focus on decarbonisation – starting in the UK as an energy policy analyst for Greenpeace International, then as a windfarm developer, before moving to an Oxford-based energy consultancy where he developed some of Europe’s first electricity market forecasting models.
    Simon holds a First Class Honours degree in Physics from Bristol University, and a Masters degree in Environmental Technology (specialising in Energy Policy) from Imperial College.
