Susan Gardner

Sarah is a Planner by profession and spent the first 13 years of her career in consenting. Since she has worked in Australia and New Zealand in local government, state government and central government. Sarah worked for Gold Coast City Council leading their Climate Change and Priority Infrastructure Planning areas, she ran the first iteration of NZ’s EPA including multiple RON’s Board of Inquiry Processes and as an Executive Director for the NSW EPA Sarah ran the investigation into fire-fighting foam contamination over 700 sites and the $802m Waste and Resource Recovery Programme for the State. In her most recent role as Chief Executive of Otago Regional Council Sarah was responsible for regional transport planning and public transport for Otago, amongst other functions. Sarah has spent the past 12 years in executive leadership roles and has a particular focus on leadership, staff wellbeing and culture
