Yogesh Anand

Yogesh Anand is the Executive Sponsor and Programme Director for the National Ticketing Solution, with Waka Kotahi.

The National Ticketing Solution (NTS) project aims to improve public transport for New Zealanders through a standardised approach to paying for public transport which will provide a common customer experience no matter where you are in the country. Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency has partnered with Cubic Transportation Systems Ltd., a global supplier in the ticketing industry to design and implement the NTS for public transport across Aotearoa New Zealand.

The National Ticketing Solution is a convenient, reliable and cost-effective solution aimed at providing more ways for customers to pay for public transport. Riders will be able to choose the payment method that works for them, paying for public transport using contactless debit or credit cards, as well as digital payment methods such as Apple Pay or Google Pay, in addition to the option of using a pre-paid transit card.

The NTS will increase people’s ability to travel safely, easily and independently, leading to more people using buses, rail and ferries more often.

Prior to this role, Yogesh held several large information technology (IT) management roles, including as the CIO / CTO for Waka Kotahi, Yogesh  was accountable for the management and delivery of digital solutions, including Corporate, Regulatory and Transport technologies, leading a large team of over 300+ to deliver transformative solutions. He has also worked for Reserve Bank of New Zealand, New Zealand Health Information Services in New Zealand, and the Bank for International Settlements in Switzerland. He was also the Director of Solutions with Inland Revenue and supported their business transformation programme.
